Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn is the upcoming redesigned version from the original Final Fantasy XIV from 2010. The original game got so many negative reviews that the developers decided to give it another turn.
The obvious thing would be to release the second version free to play if they want to compete with the current MMORPG generation. Strangely enough the guys from Square Enix decided to keep Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn on a subscription fee pay method. This mean this game will be a Pay-to-Play MMORPG instead of a Free-to-Play.
Compared to World of Warcraft this is probably worth your money, I mean its Final Fantasy. However a smart move would be to give players at least a free try-out, let say one free character until level 30.
The combat system in FF XIV A Realm Reborn will not be full action based like Tera. The up-side is that the game is also created for the Playstation 3 which means it will be fully compatible with a PS3 controller. The combat system will be fast paced and probably (and hopefully) better then WoW or Guildwars.
I am a big Final Fantasy fan, so I hope Square Enix will change their vision on a subscription fee pay method and make this game Free-to-Play. Especially after watching the video below: one of the most epic Final Fantasy ending movies I have ever seen.
Final Fantasy XIV A Realm Reborn will be release on 27 august 2013 on PS3 and PC, and in 2014 for the Playstation 4
